How to make coconut cream

                       How to make coconut cream

Coconuts are a key ingredient in Samoan cooking. Every part of the coconut
is used. You can eat the flesh raw or use it for cooking, you can drink the
juice, the shell makes a handy cup or, together with the husks, you can fuel a
cooking fire. The most widely used product from the coconut is coconut
cream, so let me describe how the cream is traditionally made.

To make coconut cream you will need:
Coconut
Knife
Coconut
husk
Bowl

 Method:
1. First, collect all your equipment and grab your coconut. Using the back of
your knife, hit the coconut and rotate. Repeat this action until the coconut
splits and the coconut water comes out.
2. Secondly, pour the coconut water into a bowl then leave it aside. With the
coconut, sit on the scraper and scrape the coconut flesh. You can scrape
the coconut flesh by holding whichever hand you mostly use on the top
and the other hand against the shell. Rotate the shell gently against the
scarper until the all the flesh has been removed. Repeat with the other half.
3. Next, grab your coconut husk and put some flesh in the husk. Add a bit of
the coconut water to the husk and flesh.
4. After that, wrap the coconut water and flesh with the husk and tightly
squeeze until the cream forms and seeps out.
5. With the leftover coconut water, flesh and coconut shells, you can drink the
coconut water. You can either eat the flesh, feed it to chickens or use it for
pig feed. The coconut shells can be used as firewood so you can burn it
and make a fire.
6. Take your freshly squeezed coconut cream and use it in your favourite
dishes

Now you know how to make coconut cream in a traditional way.

year 4 camp

Dear Mrs Ritchie,

I am writing to express my opinion about why year 4’s should also go to camp.

You may believe year 4 students are too young to go to camp. However I
disagree because camp offers us the opportunity to develop important life
skills essential at any age. For example an activity such as kayaking is good
for water safety.

Similarly raft building teaches us the need for teamwork and leadership, also if
you don’t know how to tie knots raft building can help you learn how to tie
knots.

Camping can help you to become more self reliant, there are multiple things
you must do on your own like doing the dishes, looking after your own
belongings and even following instructions.

Learning archery can also help you in sports, it’s helpful for your dodge ball
throwing and other ball throwing games. Once you learn how to aim at a target
in archery, your ball throwing will also get better since it’s the same.

I hope you change your mind and allow year 4 students to go to camp, I’m
really looking forward to hearing from you.

Your sincerely

States of Matter

States of Matter

I’m going to tell you about the three statements: solid, liquid and gas. These are the three
statements I’m going to explain to you about, we also can call them “matter”.You can find
matter anywhere and
everywhere.

Solid

Solids are hard and you can’t your hand through it like liquids. How do you change a liquid
to a solid? Good question, you can make liquid to a solid by cooling the liquid down until the
liquid becomes a solid. For example, a rock, a pencil, a tree and a book they are all solid
objects. The solid object will not move unless you move it with your hand because the
molecules are together and not spread out. Solids have their own shape because the shape
stays there forever and ever so it’s their own shape.

Liquid

Liquids are a little bit similar to solids because the molecules are spread out so it can move on
its own, not like Solids molecules are close together that the Solids can’t even move. Like I
said before, you can’t put your hand through Solid and only liquid. Liquids don’t really have
their own shape since the liquids move and doesn’t stay in one shape. If a liquid is in a shaped
container that is the liquids shape, and if you move the container upside down it’s still the liquids
shape.

Gas

Gas is also similar to liquids because I said if liquids are in a shaped container its their shape,
gas is everywhere so for example: your house is a shaped container for the gases. If you blow
a string dangling a delicate object you can see the gas move even if it’s invisible. Your blowing
into a balloon, what your in the balloon is gas from your breath. You can also make liquid into
a gas by heating the liquid up. Carbon Dioxide is another form of gas it’s the same but Carbon
Dioxide it’s just a bit different.

So now you know about the three states of matter and how the molecules work in solid and
liquid like the molecules in liquid are spread out so it could move on its own, the molecules in
solids are different their connected so the solid object won’t move unless you move it. The gas
is similar to liquid because gas and liquid doesn’t have their own shape but if it’s in a shaped
container that's their shape.

Letter from Gallipoli

Letter from Gallipoli 27th April 1918

Dear mom,

In Gallipoli there are big bullets pouring down, it’s impossible dodge them. We dig
underground for shelter, it’s like small caves. I slowly looked up, so many enemies are
running towards us but they cant get any closer because other people are shooting them.
They are throwing bombs at us but we dodge them, this is easier to dodge then the big bullets.
Holding up my gun ready to shoot, I shoot the enemy that is closest to us so they don’t get a
chance to get on our side. There is a bunch of wounded people, even though they’re wounded
they do not fear the enemies. All of the soldiers are so brave, they just want to win the war.
I threw a big bomb at the enemies, then I quickly hid in my small underground cave. I moved to
a comfortable position and waited incase the enemies are having a plan, headed towards us.
After that big bomb I threw, they are getting revenge. So I should probably shoot them and help
the others, I get out my small underground cave and started shooting. I shot most of the
enemies until the war ended, then I packed my guns, ammo and other stuff. We have to win
that war, I trained a lot. I was ready for another war. I got ready my ammunition, in the morning
we’re having another war. In the morning, we packed our ammunition and went to the war place.
This time is more intense, they just threw a bomb at our side. We dodged and knew we had
to do something, so we got up and shot all the enemies running towards us. One enemy was
smart, he snuck on our side and shot one of our soldiers. Luckily,I shot him as revenge, the guy
the enemy shot wasn’t dead but badly wounded. As revenge, we got two snipers and told them
to shoot the enemies that's far and we’ll take care of the others. We all gathered up and shot all
the enemies, we won but a lot of people died which is really sad but they are brave.

School photographs

Dear teachers,

I am writing to you to express my opinion about the way you arrange and display the class photographs.

In my opinion, you should put the photos in a row from year 1-6 and not scattered around. It just feels messy and it is not easy to find a photo you want to see. I’m sure you’ll agree with this idea. You can also put the higher year on the top and the lower years on the bottom, it will look tidy and make it easier to find the year level. I’m sure you’ll take this idea on board and change how you do it.

Another possible way to improve the presentation is to make a class board. You can also put the class boards from the smallest class number to the higher class number, so its organised.

A further suggestion is that If some people are absent you could photoshop them in, so we can still have a photo to remember them. If the student is sick and their parents want a photo with their child you could easily photoshop them in. The parents would then still buy the photo even if their child was absent.  Also the absent student would be happy seeing themselves in the photo.

I do hope you use one of my ideas. You will understand the need to improve how our school photos are displayed.

Thank You

Dorothy
